Privacy Policy
The short version: Lossic has no servers. Your music, your metadata, and your Google account credentials never pass through us — they move directly between your devices and your own Google Drive. We cannot see them, and we do not want to.
What we collect
Nothing. Lossic operates entirely on your devices:
- We run no backend servers and operate no databases of user data.
- We embed no analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs.
- We receive no crash reports, usage statistics, or telemetry unless you explicitly send them to us (for example, by emailing a diagnostic log).
Google Drive access
Lossic connects your device directly to the Google Drive API over HTTPS:
- Lossic Pro (macOS) requests the
drive.filescope — it can only see and manage files and folders that Lossic itself created (your CD rips in the Lossic folder). It cannot read the rest of your Drive. - Lossic (iOS) streams your audio files directly from Google Drive to your device for playback and local caching.
- OAuth tokens are stored in the device Keychain, protected by the operating system. They are never transmitted to us.
- Audio data flows directly between Google's servers and your device. No third party, including us, sits in that path.
Lossic's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Local data on your device
- Streamed audio is cached on-device for instant replay and offline listening. You control the cache size limit, and it is deleted when you delete the app.
- Your library index (file names, tags, artwork) is stored in a local database on your device only.
Optional AI features
Lossic (iOS) can generate album background stories using an AI provider — only if you configure it with your own API key. When you use this feature, the album's title, artist, and cover art are sent to the provider you chose (for example Google Gemini or an OpenAI-compatible service), under that provider's privacy policy. This feature is off until you set it up, and your API key is stored in the device Keychain.
Revoking access & deleting data
- Revoke Lossic's Google Drive access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Deleting the app deletes all local caches, indexes, and stored tokens.
- Your music files in Google Drive are yours and are never modified or deleted by Lossic without your action.
Children
Lossic is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included — by architecture, it cannot.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated date. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
